The Malaria Research and Reference Reagent Resource Center (MR4) provides reagents only to investigators who are registered with the MR4 program. Orders must be placed using the Reagent Request Form. Orders for reagents may be submitted with your registration documents, but they will not be processed until your registration has been approved. Orders for live vectors of human and/or animal disease will not be processed until a valid importation permit is received by MR4 and a review of investigator qualifications and facilities has been approved. All requests for reagents must be signed by the registered investigator and mailed or faxed to MR4.
Important tips on MR4 Reagent Requests:
- Please be advised that MR4 distributes reference amounts of all our reagents. In order to ensure availability to all qualified researchers, it is our policy to only distribute a maximum of one vial of a given reagent per year to each registered user. Please do not request more than one vial per reagent.
- Please do not request reagents from ATCC, BEI or other collections or programs when ordering MR4 reagents. We cannot accommodate any requests for items not listed in the MR4 collection holdings as listed in the MR4 catalog or MR4 web site reagent pages.
- Item availability is subject to change due to limited supply, production costs, withdrawal, regulatory restrictions or other events. Some MR4 reagents are not amplifiable and limited to our collection repository stock on hand. The MR4 web site lists the most current reagent holdings.
- Please remember the essential program requirement to acknowledge both MR4 and the Depositor of the Reagent(s), as indicated on the Reagent Product Sheet in all publications and presentations resulting from your use of the reagents, whether the reagents are used as standards, controls or modified derivatives. The suggested format for such acknowledgement is: “The following reagent was obtained through the MR4 (MRA catalog number and reagent name), deposited by (Depositor name).” Please also notify us of publications including your reference to MR4.
How to order MR4 Reagents:
- MR4 Reagents are provided free of production charge; however, you must pay for both shipping and handling fees by supplying either a valid credit card number with the required information or a Purchase Order Number from your institution on the Reagent Request Form (link below). Please check with your institution to determine whether or not you need to obtain a billing number or purchase order to pay for your shipping and/or handling charges. Domestic USA, Puerto Rico and Canadian registrants only - you may include a FedEx shipper account number to cover the shipping fee. However, a valid credit card or purchase order number must also be included to cover the packaging, handling and processing fee for the shipment.
- Complete the Reagent Request Form including a statement of proposed Reagent Use. Please review the commercial use restrictions in the MR4 MTA. Most items are provided for research purposes only. If you intend to use the reagent for commercial development, you must contact the depositor and/or their institution and an agreement must be reached to allow for such use, unless terms of use have been provided to MR4 by the depositor allowing commercial development of that reagent at the time the deposit was received at MR4. In either case, please indicate your intent for research or commercial use in the appropriate check box on the Reagent Request Form.
- Include your valid MR4 account number with each order.
- International Customers - Please check with your goverment customs office for guidance pertaining to import permit and duty/tax requirements. If needed, please forward a copy of any permits to MR4 with the order.
- Orders may be faxed to (703) 365-2774 (direct to MR4 desk) or you may send signed forms and importation permits (if necessary) by mail to:
