Basic MR4 Operations

The success and expansion of the MR4 program and collection holdings is highly dependent upon important reagent deposits from malaria investigators, clinicians and scientists worldwide.  These include Plasmodium parasite isolates, lines and clones, characterized Anopheles colonies, and associated molecular reagents and derivatives from these organisms.  The funding provided to MR4 laboratories supports the acquisition, amplification, authentication, quality control, preservation, storage and distribution of materials at minimal cost to MR4 registered investigators worldwide.

Reagent depositors generously provide reagents to MR4 for research community use.  Depositors will need to provide two documents for their reagents: 1) an MR4 Reagent Deposit Form, and 2) a Reagent Information Form. The deposit form and the MR4 Material Transfer Agreement serve as the material exchange agreement establishing the conditions for receipt of the reagent by registered users of the MR4, and the conditions for transfer of the reagent to requesters. The Reagent Information Form provides detailed information and references as to the origin, preparation, and use of the reagent.  Although we encourage depositors to register with the MR4 program, it is NOT a prerequisite to contribute materials to the MR4 collection.  Please contact MR4 at malaria@atcc.org with any questions on acceptance criteria for reagents to be deposited.

All MR4 users must be approved through MR4 program registration in order to be eligible to receive materials from the collection reagent holdings. The Registration Form and Material Transfer Agreement establish the terms under which the requestor will accept and utilize a reagent.   Once registered, please review the Ordering Instructions and Tips prior to submiting a Reagent Request Form.  Citation of both MR4 and the original depositor in all published or presented work using or resulting from the use of any MR4 reagents, including parasite and mosquito stocks, is a requirement of approved program registration.
